Day 9 - Light Rigs

Light Rigs

For this tutorial, I learned more about the environment light, three point lighting and using the light linker to do different functions.
The beginning part, I did out my own greeble by referencing from the first tutorial > procedural forest and did out some random boxes with teapot scene.

So I added an environment light and I learned that we can actually set the time and date. This would allow us to set the light accordingly to that particular country, particular timing which I think it's very interesting.

After that, I tried out three point lighting. It's quite similar to how we are going to do on maya but in houdini, they'll set it up for us and we'll adjust accordingly.

So as usual, the key light;fill light;rim light and bounce light are here for us to adjust.

I proceed to try out the light linker whereby I've previously created out a point light. So I'll link the teapot to the three point light while the other objects will all be linked to the point light.

We also can create a grid geometry and set it to the portal geometry.

This would make the portal geometry shines directly to the object that we want.
I've also added some controls through parameter interface to be able to control the light accordingly. Before that I'll need to lock some of the parameter to prevent any lights to be scaled too.

I not sure what causes the red bar error to appear but I'm still able to complete and the function still works.
